Can I set up an alert for a specific sender?

This depends on your device or app you use for receiving messages.

Emergency Alerts works by listening to the notifications that your apps published. These could be from an email, SMS, messenger, or any other app that gives you notifications.

For Email: #

If sends you an email for example, you would probably see the display name the person has set up on their email address in the notification title. For example, it might be set to Joe Bloggs, but you might also see . The best thing to do is get the sender to send a test email and see how the notification is displayed on your device.

For the two above examples, you could create a rule where:

  • Notification Title Contains – or
  • Notification Title Contains Joe Bloggs

In addition, a contact in your address book might also change the sender info in the notification (see below as this impacts SMS messages)

For SMS: #

If you have a contact in your address book with a sender’s name, usually this will be displayed instead of a number.

Again, the best thing to do is get the sender to send a test message and see how it appears on your device.

  • If the persons name appears in the notification title, e.g. Joe Bloggs, a Notification title Contains Joe Bloggs rule should work.
  • If a number appears in the notification title, e.g. +447987654321, a Notification title Contains +447987654321 rule should work. Just be sure to enter the number exactly including any country code that is displayed in the notification (if any).
